FEBRUARY IN THE LIBRARY

  • Scheduled Class Visits in the library
    • February 3-7: 6th grade LA classes will love the book talks Mrs. Heath will share fun facts about Valentines.
    • February 10-14: 7th grade LA classes will be introduced to the Read Across America Challenge.  Students will explore the world of arts and crafts books.
    • February 19-21: 6th LA classes will be introduced to the Read Across America Challenge and take care of library business.
    • February 24-28: 7th LA classes will focus on Utah - fun facts and what a great place for a "stay-cation" during spring break.
  • Other events
    • February 21st: LRI Spelling Bee winners will participate in the district's spelling bee.


    • February 24th: Read Across America  4-books in 5 weeks Challenge begins
      • Come to the library for details and official tracking card
      • Challenge ends on March 28th - everyone who completes the challenge wins!!!

  • Scheduled Class Visits in the library
    • January 6-10: 6th grade LA classes get to learn about the Snowflake scientist - Snowflake Bentley and his interesting world of snowflakes.  Students will learn about the LRI Spelling Bee
    • January 13-17: 7th LA classes will learn about the LRI Spelling Bee, and they will also have a super WWII book talk activity 

      • January 21-24: 6th grade LA classes will be treated with another fun Beehive book talk - this one is sure to help students find their next favorite book.

      • January 27-31:  7th grade LA classes will be involved in a genre activity that's sure to spur their interest.

    • Other activities:
    • January 27: Lava Ridge's annual Spelling Bee
      • What to do:  Get your packet in the library 
      • Turn in your registration by January 23
      • Where - library during 1st and 2nd period
      • After that? the 3 top spellers will go on to complete in the February 21 District Spelling Bee (those winners will go on to regional)
